Here's a Little Something

Here's a tidbit I wrote in Latin. I'll provide a translation in a Comment.

This is an adaptation and expansion of the Agnus Dei, a repetitive Latin prayer that a Catholic priest would recite during Easter Mass.

***

AGNUS DEI

Agnus Dei,
qui tollis peccata mundi,
miserere mihi.

O Agne,
cuius cruor est mihi parma:
defende me umbra mea;
accipe hastam hostis in pectem tuum
et vesti me illo sanguine sancto.

Agnus Dei,
qui tollis peccata mundi,
miserere mihi.

O Agne,
cuius cor est mihi fornax:
protege me frige inanis;
dona cordem mihi tuum calidum
ut ego tenebras comburam.

Agnus Dei,
qui tollis peccata mundi,
dona mihi pacem.

O Agne,
cuius amor est mihi vita:
non capi me lucem tuam;
sum flos egens radios tuos.

Here's the Translation

LAMB OF GOD

Lamb of God,
who takes away the world's sins,
have pity on me.

O Lamb,
whose blood to me is a shield:
defend me from my shadow;
accept the spear in your breast
and clothe me with that holy gristle.

Lamb of God,
who takes away the world's sins,
have pity on me.

O Lamb,
whose heart to me is a furnace:
protect me from the cold of the void;
give your hot heart to me
so that I might burn away the darkness.

Lamb of God,
who takes away the world's sins,
grant peace to me.

O Lamb,
whose love to me is life:
snatch not from me your light;
I am a flower craving your sunbeams.
